The official full length trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home was released Tuesday night, with one month to go before the movie’s release. While this trailer doesn’t explicitly show Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield reprising their roles, there is plenty of evidence to suggest that they will appear in the movie. On top of that, there are so many other amazing shots and lines that we see and hear throughout the trailer. After last night’s drop, fans are clamoring to get their hands on tickets to no surprise. Tickets have been announced to go on sale sometime on Monday, November 29.

A Week of Normalcy

The first line we hear from Tom Holland’s Peter Parker in this trailer is, “Ever since I got bit by that spider, I’ve only had one week where my life has felt normal. That was when you found out.” He is speaking to Zendaya’s MJ in this scene. From this, we can infer that there is one week between Peter’s return from Europe and the end credit scene that revealed his identity. This is followed by shots detailing their escape from the police after his identity is revealed.

Death in the Family

The trailer opens with a shot of Peter Parker looking devastated, eyes red and swollen from crying. We can almost certainly infer that someone close to Peter will die in this movie. Top contenders would be Ned Leeds, Happy Hogan, or MJ. We get a shot of MJ falling from some scaffolding, with Spider-Man jumping after her. This is a very clear parallel to Gwen Stacey’s fall and subsequent death in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. My guess is that MJ will not be the person that Peter loses, however, as the parallel is so strikingly similar that it is too expected.

The real likelihood, in my eyes, is that Happy will be the one to go, subsequently closing the Iron Man chapter of the MCU completely. Marvel does not like to keep father figures around for Peter to the point where we haven’t heard mention of Uncle Ben at all, except for a line in What If…?, Marvel’s animated anthology series. With Happy dating Aunt May and Peter’s only remaining tie to Tony Stark, he is filling both slots left empty by Peter’s previous father figures. His death can also be evidenced by shots like these:

It looks as though Happy is looking at something or someone coming at him. This could be the bomb Peter is trying to stop or Happy could be looking at Peter himself one last time before he dies.

The Sinister Six Five?

We also see our first looks at many of the villains that will make up the Sinister Six in this movie. Green Goblin, Sandman, Electro, Lizard, and Doc Ock are all featured prominently in this trailer. Also shown is a variation of Green Goblin, which begs the question of if it is Harry Osborn or Ned as the Hobgoblin, a very popular fan-theory.

Of this rouges gallery, Doc Ock is the most featured in this trailer. We get an extended look into his battle with Tom Holland’s Peter Parker on the highway. This comes with additional insight to his line, “Hello, Peter.” from the initial teaser trailer. At a point Tom’s suit reveals his face when the nanotech redirects to fill a gap in his chest. Doc Ock then say, “You’re not Peter Parker.”

Into the Spider-Verse

Of course, to MCU fans, Tom Holland is Peter Parker, but this implies that Doc Ock is used to a different Peter, perhaps one that looks like Tobey Maguire. This is not the only evidence of reprisals from Maguire and Andrew Garfield. In a shot of what seems to be a climactic battle, Spider-Man is leaping at Sandman, Lizard, and Electro by himself. While this on its own isn’t damning evidence, Electro and Lizard are not leaping at Spidey. Instead, the two villains are leaping to empty space. Marvel has been know to edit characters out of trailers before, such as Pepper Potts in the trailer for Avengers: Endgame. It is likely that two characters are meant to be filling in the empty space to balance the scales of the fight. I’ve drawn in line of sight arrows to show the direction of the villains.

Suiting Up!

We also get a look at two new suits for Spider-Man. One is a black suit with gold accents that are in the pattern of the webbing design usually associated with a Spidey suit. This suit seems to be equipped with magic elements that match the magic of Doctor Strange. Unfortunately, it’s unlikely that we will see our Peter Parker trained in the mystic arts.

The third image seems to be a take on the Iron Spider suit that is more fabric-based, instead of nanotech. This would be a more accurate adaptation from the comics. While this suit is never fully featured in this trailer, it seems to be the suit that Tom Holland will be in for the final battle of the movie.

If Peter is the one under the mask in the black suit, the likelihood is that Strange imbued the suit’s tech with magic. However, I think that there is a chance that this Spider-Man is an alternate hero, although I will admit that this theory is quite a long shot. It is mostly based in the fact that they repeatedly show this suit after lines such as “…we started getting visitors…from every universe” and “There are others out there, we need to send them back.” Additionally, this suit is reminiscent of the Black Panther suit worn by Erik Killmonger. Could this suit be made out of vibranium?

I’ve only scratched the surface of what this trailer shows its viewers, but if I keep going this article would end up as a book. All in all, Spider-Man: No Way Home theaters will be packed come December, as this trailer has left fans foaming at the mouth in anticipation. With all this hype, will it live up to expectations? Come December 1, I’ll begin a lead-up to the release by taking a look at all the Spider-Man movies that have come before and where they excelled or faltered. Stay tuned!
